My Food 2025: A Movement Towards Self-Sufficiency in Malaysia’s Food Industry
The pre-launch event brought together key government representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), the Federal Agricultural Marketing Agency (FAMA), industry stakeholders, and local suppliers to discuss the future of Malaysia’s food security and the role of local sourcing in achieving self-sufficiency.
“My Food 2025 is more than just a trade show—it’s a movement to support local food producers, connect them with key buyers, and foster sustainable business growth,” said Alun Jones, Project Director of Montgomery Asia. “By creating direct market access, we help small businesses scale, drive industry-wide change, and strengthen Malaysia’s local supply chains.”
The event aligns with the Slow Food movement, encouraging businesses to move away from overly processed foods and prioritise fresh, locally sourced alternatives—meeting growing consumer demand for natural, nutritious, and sustainable meals.
“The support from FAMA, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and the Malaysia Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau (MyCEB) in making this show a reality is highly appreciated”.
“We are grateful for the support from FAMA, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), and the Malaysia Conventions and Exhibitions Bureau (MyCEB) in making this show,” added Jones. “We are also encouraged by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security endorsement, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s local food ecosystem.”

Echoing its theme, ‘The Flavours of Your Community, ’ My Food 2025 promotes local suppliers, ensuring that Malaysian-made products receive the visibility and market access they deserve.

1. The benefits of shorter supply chains – Making fresh, high-quality food more accessible.
2. Reducing carbon footprints – Minimising long-distance food transportation and packaging waste.

Promoting Sustainability Through Business Events
As a venue partner, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) has strongly advocated food sustainability and local sourcing.
“We are glad the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is our venue partner. Their continuous efforts through the KLCC Business Events Alliance (KLCC BEA) are putting the KLCC Precinct on the map as a sustainability hub. The support of a major player is key to pioneering and driving further demand in the surrounding communities.
“With the increasing demand for locally produced food, My Food 2025 will be an essential catalyst in supporting local businesses and reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to food security and sustainable living,” said Jones.
He further emphasised how industry shifts reshape procurement and sustainability practices within the F&B sector.
“As the F&B sector continues to evolve, there is a growing awareness of the benefits of local sourcing and sustainability,” added Jones. “My Food 2025 is an exciting platform to promote these values while offering local suppliers more exposure to businesses that want to integrate high-quality, locally sourced ingredients into their operations.”
